When choosing accommodation, you can either choose an area that you want to be in and search for accommodation within that area, or you can find the accommodation that suits you best and then you don’t have to make two decisions.

Wherever you stay, you have the advantage of being there and the disadvantage of not being somewhere else, but that’s life isn’t it!

Whilst we all look for specific features for any accommodation choice (price; view; parking; free Wi-Fi; pool; kitchen etc.), it’s often how you are treated that makes the place memorable.

The “kid friendly” mention doesn’t mean that young children aren’t welcome at each of the other places (they certainly are), it signifies that the resort has special facilities for younger children (e.g. kid’s club, segregated pools, etc.)

Expedia is a favourite because of its range of accommodation, the descriptions, the price match guarantee and that you can book over the phone, giving you the opportunity to make special requests. We have more confidence about the reviews on Expedia, because no review can get on their website unless the accommodation was booked through Expedia by the reviewer.

Airbnb is the world’s biggest non-hotel accommodation directory, we use them whenever we are looking for multi-bedroom accommodation, but there is one note of caution, that being that the information is provided by the property owners, sometimes with mis-descriptions.

Qantas has hotels and Airbnb properties available for either cash, points, or cash & points, so if you have spare Qantas Frequent Flyer points, this might be a good way to use them up.

The most popular Airbnb (or similar) apartment locations are individually owned apartments in Chevron Renaissance; Circle on Cavill; and Q1 – all in Surfers Paradise. The most popular Airbnb (or similar) house destinations are in Broadbeach Waters, Mermaid Beach or Mermaid Waters.
